This really brought back beautiful memories for me playing with my wife and our friends out of state. It’s a time I don’t often like to think back on but in avoiding it I’ve avoided the happy memories too. Thank you and your family for sharing your experiences.
It can be easy to bury those good memories, but I do think it’s important to reflect on the coping mechanisms that helped us through those insanely difficult times. It’s awesome you had a similar AC experience with your friends!
You're absolutely right. Animal Crossing: New Horizons wasn't just the right game at the right time, it was also the right game *for* an incredibly wrong and stressful time.
Having this cosy game to look forward to and play with my then-5-year-old daughter each day provided some special memories during our extended lockdown.
Thank you for sharing your personal experience with AC New Horizons. Such a good read. My time with Animal Crossing was fairly brief, dating back Wild World on the DS.
I loved what the series was about, but I think I made it about 3 weeks max before I couldn't keep up my town and make it thrive. The game’s real-time clock meant that several days of neglect resulted it starting over multiple times until I decided to throw in the towel.
But if I had the time, I'd be playing New Horizons right now.
Thanks for your kind words! There is a certain level of commitment needed for AC games, but I feel like New Horizons does a better job easing you back in if you spend some time away. Villagers would just leave without you knowing in older AC games, which could be pretty devastating haha
